Naturalist Mod Fabric Compatibility Guide

Naturalist has Fabric releases, but “supports Fabric” is only the beginning of the compatibility check. The exact Minecraft version, Naturalist release and supporting Fabric environment must still line up.

Fabric is a loader family, not a universal compatibility switch

A mod built for Fabric expects Fabric-specific APIs and conventions. That is why a file labeled NeoForge or Forge should not be dropped into a Fabric profile. The names describe different technical environments even when the gameplay content is similar.

Match Minecraft first

Start with the Minecraft version. Current listings include 1.21.1 Fabric releases, while older Naturalist releases exist for earlier versions such as 1.20.1 and 1.19.x. Choose a file whose release page or filename matches the profile exactly.

Keep dependencies aligned

If the release requires additional libraries or APIs, those files also need compatible versions. A dependency mismatch can look like a Naturalist crash even when the Naturalist JAR itself is correct. Read the first lines of a crash report and the loader error screen for missing or incompatible dependencies.

Use a clean test profile

When a large pack fails, create a small Fabric profile with only the loader, required dependencies and Naturalist. If that works, add the remaining mods back in groups. This turns a vague compatibility problem into a controlled comparison.

Server and client rules

For multiplayer, keep the server and participating clients on compatible game, loader and mod versions. Differences that appear harmless in a menu can become disconnects, missing registries or behavior problems once a world loads.
